How to Repair a Broken Heart After Sudden Loss

Happy New Year!

I thought I would have said that sooner, but you would not believe what I experienced the first week of the New Year.

First, for the last 5 years on January 4, I take a moment of silence for my grandfather who I lost in 2015 due to pancreatic cancer.

This year I woke up on the 4th determined to have a great day and not mourn my grandfather but reflect on the good times.

I was having an amazing day until I got the phone call I will never forget.

Around 7pm that night.

I was awoken out my sleep and told that one of my favorite people had passed away.

It was so unreal because I was just on the phone with him less than 48 hours from the day he passed away.

Not only that, but he died the same day that his father, my grandfather, passed away.

Yea it was a lot to deal with.

This was the greatest lost that I had dealt with in my life!

When I talked to him on Saturday the 2nd day of January of this year, he was laughing, and he sounded healthy.

We had one of the best conversations ever.

It is so crazy because I was not going to answer the phone because I had just talked to him a couple days before, but he had called me twice in a row, and when someone calls me twice in a row, I believe its an emergency.

He did not want nothing he just wanted talk lol. That was my uncle!

I am going to miss my uncle!

Anyways, as I was going through this mourning period.

I recognized my community, virtual and reality, was grieving and mourning as well. A lot of people I know are dealing with their own loss.

Today I will share with you some tips that I am using that is helping me get over the pain. Hopefully, these tips can help you too!

Let’s get into it

Why You Haven’t Started Your Business….Yet?

So you want to start a business?

Why?

It sounds cliché but a well thought out “Why?” determines whether you will have a profitable business or not.

Let me explain what I mean.

I have found that there are 3 types of business people in this world

  1. Those who are motivated by their purpose
  2. Those who are motivated by money
  3. Those who are not motivated at all

If you fall under the category of the unmotivated.

You probably aren’t reading this post right now, so I won’t spend much time here.

But what I will say is, if you are around an unmotivated adult, you can’t change them, but you can expose them to certain situations and experiences, if they are open to them, great. If not, move on.

Periodt!

If you are motivated by money. That’s cool.

However, I have found that people who are only motivated by money will either

3 Ways to Pay Off Your Credit Cards

I don’t know about you but I hate debt.

It gives me anxiety.

I don’t like owing people.

I got my first credit card when I was 18.

My mom tried to warn me, but I didn’t listen.

At 18 I got every card I could think of and I maxed each one out.

I have paid that debt off since then, acquired more, and now I can say in the 2020, I was able to get all my credits down to less than $100 balance, during a pandemic.

In 2021, my goal is to maintain a low balance on my credit cards, while attacking my car payments. I also want to start attacking this school loan debt.

The golden rule is that you do not want your credit card to exceed 30% of the credit limit.

My goal is to definitely stay under that!

I was doing some research and I found that most people my age, 35 and under, have

  1. Student loan debt
  2. Credit Card debt

I know this was true in my life until I paid off my credit cards.

Today, I want to share what I did to pay off my credit card debt and leave you with some methods that can support you in paying off your debt as well.

Celebrate Your Success

It’s Sunday so you know what that means….

Tarot time, one of my favorite days of the week!

Last week, the cards spoke to the fact that I am elevating to a new plane.

I am a BOSS and I have to stay focused on my strategy and keep my feet to the ground to manifest my desires.

At the same time, I was also called to rest and relax, letting me know that its possible to do both. I do not have to over exert myself when it comes to reaching my goals.

The overall theme for this week calls for me to celebrate.

Product-Based Versus Service- Based Business 2021

I started my own business in 2018.

I always knew that I wanted to start my own business, for many reasons.

In the beginning, I had many ideas but I didn’t know what I wanted to do.

One thing I knew for sure, I knew my business would involve me making money and helping people.

That is all I knew.

When I thought about the things that I was good at, every idea included me providing a service.

At the time, my thoughts were I am good at cooking and I am good at helping people.

At that moment, I decided that I would start a cooking business.

The Stand, the mobile food cart I founded in 2018. At The Stand, I provide the service of cooking food for my customers!

When starting a business, there are 3 types of businesses you can start.

You can have

  1. A service-based business. Which is a business that you create to sale your personal skills or knowledge.

I am skilled at cooking, so I started a business doing just that.

I went to school to learn how to help people identify their challenges to reach their goals. I now have a business doing that!

  • A product-based business.  A product-based business is when you sale a product to people for money.

You are not selling the service, you are selling the product itself.

For example, Apple has the product phones. Nike has sneakers. They have products.

  • A mixture of both. A business that provides a service and also has a product.

I am noticing that a lot of service-based business are going this route. Even myself, if you check out my store on my website, I have a few products their for sale.

I also like to think of Chic Fil A. You know they sell chicken but we also go there for that good customer service, and I know that I am not the only one that gets mad if Chic Fil A does not meet the standard of customer service that we are use to.

Whatever journey you decide to go on, you have to know that each journey has its strengths and weaknesses. I share few below.

When it comes to starting a business where you are providing a service, here are some strengths that I recognized

  • Low start up cost.

With my coaching business it didn’t cost me anything. My education was expensive but I didn’t know I wanted to be a “coach” when I was going to school for Social Work.   With my mobile food cart, I paid less than $10,000, and made my money back in 60 days. Great investment!

  • You directly get to see the impact you create

You get to see the smile on my customer faces. You get to see the needs of the community you serve. You get to see the beauty you create, the problems you solve, the lives that you change, directly.

I would say the weaknesses include

  • Its A LOT of WORK!

If you don’t do it then it won’t get done. Everything is on you. Don’t get me wrong, their systems that you can put in place that can support you in making your job easier, but at the end of the day it is all on you!

  • Hard to scale

When you are providing a business it’s hard to scale (grow) your business, especially as a service provider who is hands on and passionate about what you do. It requires a different level of thinking and different set of actions.

  • Unpredictable Cash Flow

Depending on the industry you are in the money could be funny in some months. Don’t be scared. Plan accordingly.

  • Always doing for others

You find yourself always doing for other. You provide a service, that’s what we do right. Well sometimes people get burnt out from serving. Sometime you have to take time to serve yourself.

The pros of having a product-based business

  • Ability to scale

You can grow your business more easily because you are selling a product. Once you have a prototype, you can just keep selling it, making sure the quality is the same.

Some cons that are I would say are associated with having a product based business are

  • Upfront investment

You need to pay for the product up front and you don’t know if the people will buy. That’s is a pretty big risk. Right? Do your research you will be okay.

  • Vendors

Most people tell me that finding a reputable vendor is challenging. Sometimes prices go up, packages get delayed, communication is a barrier. Finding and dealing with vendors can be a lot.

  • Customers

Customers can be a pain. Some of you probably chose this business model because you like money don’t really want to deal with customers and people like that. Well some things you just can’t get around. Customers can be crazy but you treat them right and they will treat you better.

If you are going to be a business that provides a service and offers a product, I would honestly say conquer one beast before moving to the next.

I am learning that now. And as I am conquering one beast, it is all starting to come together!

If you are starting your own business, I would love to know more about the journey you are deciding to take below. What is the name of your business? Do you provide a service or offer a product?

Alright now,

Talk to you soon!

How to Develop Your Budget in 6 Simple Steps

Hey Now!

Happy Master Your Money Monday!!!

One of the first things that you want to do when you decide that you are the master of your money is create a budget.

Budgeting simply put is a process that involves calculating how much money comes in and how much goes out. By knowing this, you will be able to make informed decisions about where your money goes.

Even if you are a billionaire, it is important to budget to plan for the unexpected and your future!

Creating a budget also protects against lifestyle inflation.

What is lifestyle inflation?

That thing that most people do when they start spending more because they got a raise or new job.

Budgeting is also a tool you can use when you are determined to get out of debt and are deciding to prioritize your long-term financial goals.

When we do NOT have a budget, our spending adds up without us even realizing it.

When we make budgeting a priority, it helps us to keep our spending in perspective and make it easier for us to stick with our financial plans!

Think about it, over a course of a month, a daily expense, like a sandwich eating out for lunch every day for $7 equals about $150 a month on fast food.  That money could go toward your emergency fund, a retirement account, or paying down your debt.

Why do you struggle with budgeting?

Heal Your Heart to Manifest and Maintain Your Desires

Before I share the messages the cards revealed this week, I think it’s only right that I give an update regarding last weeks predictions

Last, the cards stated that I would be receiving some news this week that would have me jumping for joy. I assumed I was going to get a phone call but I did NOT receive the phone call that I was referring to.

It’s cool though because I received other messages that had me jumping for joy!

  1. I was informed of an online training that led to funding opportunities that will allow me to expand my business. I reached out the contact on the call and I have a meeting scheduled for January 6, I will keep you updated!
  2. Also, one of my good friends and clients reached out to me and let me know of a resource/blessing that will support us in facilitating a project we are planning in 2021.

I was too hype!!

Outside of that, I have been taking the role as the leader in my life more seriously, not just in business but all areas.  Listening to my spirit and trusting my intuition.

I am officially on the board of Black Mothers in Power, an organization focused reducing the disparities that Black women face in maternal healthcare.

I have been engaging in a lot of positive self talk and trying my best to stay calm.

Now lets get into this week’s reading.

4 Ways to Financially Prepare for 2021

Happy Monday!

As I reflect on my financial goals

Where I came from, where I am currently, where I want to go.

I can honestly say that I see a lot of growth.

I came a long way!

One of the major realizations that I have had is that managing and growing your finances is all about your mindset.

You really have to go from a mindset of poverty, lack, and instant gratification to a mindset of wealth, abundance, and patience, especially when you come from where I come from.

This journey is easier said than done.

Most people who are mentally living in a state of poverty are

  1. okay with it
  2. don’t even realize they living in it

Managing and growing your finances is also about ACTION!

Weekly Tarot Predictions for 12.13.20

I have been thinking about ways in which I can naturally show up in this space in 2021.

A few weeks ago I felt my anxiety begin to creep in. You know she always lurking around the corner lol.

I was stressed.

The vision that I have for my life does NOT include me stressing over creating content for you for weeks at a time.

So I been thinking,

“how can I show up and show out for you on a consistent basis that works for me and YOU?”

One thing I know for sure, I want to document my journey more.

I struggled with what that would look like in the past, but I am getting an idea of what that will look like in 2021.

Every week, I do a weekly Tarot spread on myself to support me in making decisions and staying focused on my personal success journey.

As a way to support me in documenting my personal journey, I am going to document some of my personal predictions, statements, affirmations and downloads I receive from my weekly readings.

I think it will be fun to see how the readings and predictions play out in my life.

Some people don’t believe in Tarot.

I do.

If Tarot isn’t for you. That’s fine. Come back tomorrow. I have some new content dropping then!

So let’s get into it.
